From the ladies of R’damnit;

For the first time ever, R’damnit brought a ladies team to indoor competition: the R’dames!
Starting in the third and lowest division (as we entered the competition for the first time), we got a chance to try out our indoor skills.
And were more successful than expected, as we won all four matches of the day and got promoted to the second division!

This first round of matches allowed us to get to know each other in indoor context.
To try out some first offensive and defensive plays (especially our ‘cupcake’ defence strategy turned out very effective). But it also gave us some helpful pointers on how we need to improve to do well in the second division also.
With a special thanks to the ladies joining us from Ultimus Prime.
Looking forward to the next competition day!

From the gentlemen of R’damnit;

For the first time, R’damnit fielded an open and ladies team for the winter leagues. The open team headed to Arnhem, being placed in the 5th division. Bringing a mix of experienced and new players for the challenges that day.

First up was Rising High. Always fun and well matched. After an early break, we were trailing one point up until 8 – 8 on the scoreboard. Rdamnit bringing an outdoor type of play, because we haven’t mastered any other play style. Rising high being a bit more adapted to true indoor.  At 8 – 8 we managed to break back and lead to a 12 – 9 win.

Next up was Gronical Dizziness, playing an intense defence, denying Gronical Dizziness many of their long throws into the end zone led to an early lead and a comfortable victory.

Looking at the results of the day, Airborn looked like the victors of the day, going one division up. Yet again playing an intense defence, coupled together with a solid offence led us to be the victors of the 5th division, with still one match to play before the end.

AUC had a solid indoor play with experience and youth complementing each other. They couldn’t break our defence, but when they switched to a shorter play, we had to throttle up to stay in the lead, eventually winning the match 11 – 9

All in all, it was a really nice day playing ultimate frisbee, playing in a competitive division. Coming away with 4 wins made it all the more enjoyable. 4th division, we will see you in December!

Indoor Tournament 2017/2018 – Day 1

Last Sunday Rotterdamn’it drove to Eindhoven to play the first indoor competition day 2017/2018. Starting in 3rd division would prove to be quite a challenge with 4 players that were competing indoors for the first time. Only 7 players in the roster and 4 matches to go.

The first match against BF2’s from Nijmegen seemed too difficult, some of our players so nervous that they did not want to step on the field. But things started to work and we were ahead most of the game. Only in the last minutes a couple of errors on our part allowed them to equalize the scoreboard 11-11. And this against the team that would eventually promote to 2nd division. Much better than what we expected.

We faced Panic on the second match with similar feelings, very close match with a good performance from our newbies as well as our veterans. The scoreboard never showed more than two point difference. The final score was 10-12 for Panic.

We would have to play the last two matches with only one sub as Geert had to leave early for some family business. And we did miss him. Playing UTKA in the 3rd match would decide the team that was going to be demoted to 4th division. Not a single moment were the scores with a gap greater than one point, Rotterdamnit leading on the way. But exhaustion kicked in in the last 5 minutes and with less intense defense they ended up taking the universe point (10-11) and keeping the division.

We had no more energy for the last match. Even if we started with a 2-0 lead on Ultimaas, their athletic play was too much for us in the second part of the match, finishing with a bitter 6-12.

Rotterdamnit will play 4th division in December. Nevertheless, We played very solid and managed to give the other teams a run for their money. All our rookies should be proud of their performance and improvement along the day.
